Woman Critically Injured in Shark Attack at Sydney’s Coogee Beach

A woman was left in critical condition after being bitten by a shark at Coogee Beach in eastern Sydney on Saturday.

According to New South Wales Police, emergency services were called to the beach shortly before 11:15 a.m. following reports that a swimmer had been attacked by a shark.

Members of the public pulled the woman from the water and began administering first aid before emergency crews arrived at the scene. Police also provided immediate assistance to the woman, believed to be in her 30s.

Authorities said she sustained serious injuries to her arm and leg. NSW Ambulance paramedics treated her at the scene, and preparations were underway to airlift her to hospital for further treatment.

The incident prompted heightened safety concerns in the coastal area.
