France Open World Cup Campaign With 3–1 Win Over Senegal

Kathmandu — France made a winning start in Group I of the FIFA World Cup football tournament, defeating Senegal 3–1 in their opening match.

The match, played at the New York/New Jersey Stadium in the United States, ended goalless in the first half. However, the game came alive after the break, with all four goals scored in the second half.

Kylian Mbappé gave France the lead in the 66th minute, putting his side ahead with the opening goal. Bradley Barcola doubled France’s advantage in the 82nd minute, making it 2–0.

Senegal reduced the deficit in stoppage time through Ibrahima Mbaye, bringing the score to 2–1. But just a minute later, Mbappé scored his second goal of the match to seal a 3–1 victory for France.

With the win, France secured three important points in Group I, while Senegal began their campaign with a defeat.

Another Group I match between Norway and Iraq is scheduled for later today. In Group J, Argentina will face Algeria, while Austria will take on Jordan.
