Russian air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 475 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles during widespread overnight attacks targeting multiple regions and two maritime areas, according to the Russian Defence Ministry.
The ministry said the drones were intercepted between 8:00 pm on Tuesday and 8:00 am on Wednesday, Moscow time.
Russia’s state news agency TASS reported that drones were downed over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, Saratov, Smolensk, Tula and Ulyanovsk regions.
Interceptions were also reported over the Moscow region, the Republic of Crimea, the Republic of Tatarstan, Krasnodar Territory, and the waters of the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.
Voronezh Governor Alexander Gusev said air defence forces destroyed 22 Ukrainian drones over the region during the night.
Oryol Governor Andrei Klychkov reported that 26 drones were intercepted over his region. No casualties or major damage were initially reported there.
More than 40 drones were destroyed in the Tarasovsky, Kamensky, Millerovsky and Neklinovsky districts of the Rostov region, according to Governor Yuri Slyusar.
Falling debris caused dry grass to catch fire in the Neklinovsky district. The blaze was fully extinguished, and no injuries were reported.
In the Tula region, debris from a downed drone caused a fire at a Wildberries sorting centre, Governor Dmitry Milyaev said.
Damage was also reported at two apartment buildings in the Venevsky district and at two industrial facilities in Novomoskovsk and the Uzlovsky district. Preliminary information indicated that one person was injured in the Tula region.
In Tatarstan’s Zelenodolsk district, falling debris caused a localised fire at a civilian facility, according to district head Mikhail Afanasyev. Emergency teams quickly extinguished the fire, and no casualties were reported.
Emergency services and local authorities continued assessing damage, clearing debris and inspecting affected facilities. Russian officials urged residents to avoid incident sites and report any drone fragments to the security services.
