The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration has urged local governments across the country to provide the necessary support, coordination and facilitation for the collection and updating of voter registration records.

The ministry sent letters to all rural municipalities and municipalities on Wednesday, asking them to assist the relevant provincial and district election offices in carrying out voter registration-related activities.

The Election Commission had decided at its meeting on Shrawan 15 to update the voter roll and conduct a special programme at the ward level for that purpose.

The commission said it would coordinate with local registrars to verify and update the records of voters affected by marriage, migration and death against the existing voter register.

The ward-level programme will also collect new information, correct errors in existing records and revise necessary personal details.

The deadline for completing the voter registration update has been set for Bhadra 15.

The Election Commission had requested the ministry to coordinate with local governments and make the necessary arrangements for implementing the campaign.

In response, the ministry has instructed all local governments to work with provincial and district election offices and facilitate the effective completion of voter registration and updating activities.
