Seven Arrested for Allegedly Stealing and Selling Fuel from Tanker

Police have arrested seven people on charges of illegally stealing petroleum products from a tanker and selling them.

Those arrested include 55-year-old Sunain Miya of Birgunj Metropolitan City–3, Parsa; 23-year-old Aslam Hawari of Ward No. 15; and 21-year-old Rafik Miya of Ward No. 11.

Others arrested are 20-year-old Sandesh Rana Magar of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City–11, Makwanpur; 46-year-old Keshar Ram Sunar of Ward No. 10; 50-year-old Mand Singh Lama of Ward No. 14; and 27-year-old Umesh Rana Magar.

According to police, the group had allegedly been illegally siphoning petroleum products from tankers that had entered Nepal after completing customs clearance at the Integrated Check Post (ICP), and subsequently selling and distributing the fuel along the bypass road in Birgunj Metropolitan City–14, Parsa.

Police said they were apprehended at around 5:10 pm on Thursday while allegedly stealing petroleum products from a tanker bearing registration number Na 7 Kha 1539 at Saudagar Oil Center along the Birgunj–14 bypass road.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
