Dry Landslide Damages Armed Police Structures at Tatopani BOP

A dry landslide struck the Tatopani customs area in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality–3 of Sindhupalchok early Friday, damaging several structures belonging to the Border Out Post (BOP) Tatopani of the Armed Police Force Nepal.

According to information received, the landslide occurred at around 1:15 am from a hill approximately 200 to 300 metres high, located northwest of the BOP. Rocks falling with the landslide collided with one another and were hurled into the BOP premises.

No human casualties were reported, but several police structures and materials sustained physical damage, according to the Armed Police Force.

The landslide shattered a window pane of the first-line barrack, while a wall of the second-line barrack was punctured. Six holes were also reported in the corrugated metal roof of the same barrack.

One duty post was completely damaged, while another sustained partial damage.

A wall of the bathroom used by an Armed Police Force inspector was also punctured. A winter jacket was damaged after being struck by a rock, the flagpole carrying the national flag was completely destroyed, and three holes were reported in the inventory store building.

The staircase in front of the main entrance was also damaged.

Following the incident, the Armed Police Force said it was assessing the security situation in the area and compiling a detailed account of the damage.
