Monsoon Remains Active Nationwide, Heavy Rain Possible in Parts of Koshi, Bagmati and Karnali

Monsoon conditions remain active across Nepal, with the monsoon trough currently located around its average position, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division.

Generally cloudy conditions prevail over Koshi, Madhesh and Bagmati provinces, as well as most Himalayan and hilly areas of the country. The Tarai region is experiencing partly cloudy to mainly clear weather.

Light rain accompanied by thunder is occurring at several places in Bagmati Province. Light rainfall has also been reported at one or two locations in Koshi, Madhesh and Lumbini provinces.

The Weather Forecasting Division has predicted generally cloudy conditions across the country during the daytime. Moderate rain and snowfall are possible at some places in the Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Moderate rainfall is likely at many places in the hilly areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces and at some locations in the hills of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. Moderate rain is also possible at some places in the Tarai.

One or two locations in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces may receive heavy rainfall.

Generally cloudy conditions are expected to continue nationwide tonight. Moderate rain and snowfall are possible at some locations in the Himalayan and hilly regions.

Moderate rainfall is also likely at some places in the Tarai areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Madhesh and Sudurpaschim provinces. One or two locations in the hilly areas of Karnali Province may experience heavy rainfall.

The Weather Forecasting Division has warned that heavy rainfall could increase the risk of debris flow, flooding, landslides and soil erosion, and has urged residents in vulnerable areas to take necessary precautions.

Adverse weather and rainfall may also affect daily life, agriculture, health services, tourism, mountaineering, and road and air transportation. Authorities have therefore advised the public and relevant sectors to remain alert.
