Four Arrested with Over 400 Kg of Cannabis in Barahakshetra

Four people have been arrested with 418 kilograms of cannabis from the Barahakshetra–Chatara road in Barahakshetra Municipality-1 of Sunsari district.

According to Chandrabahadur Khadka, information officer at the District Police Office Sunsari, police searched a car and a motorcycle travelling from Barahakshetra toward Chatara and recovered the cannabis packed in 22 bundles.

Those arrested include 34-year-old Thaman Rai of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-13, who was driving the car, and 22-year-old Jibani Rai of Manebhanjyang Rural Municipality-5 in Okhaldhunga, who was travelling in the vehicle.

Police also arrested 26-year-old Amar Kamat of Katahari Rural Municipality-3 in Morang, who was driving the motorcycle, along with 38-year-old Shankar Chaudhary of the same area.

All four suspects have been kept in custody at the Area Police Office in Mahendranagar.

Police said further investigation into the case is underway.
