Differences Within RSP Become Public as MP Raju Pandey’s Remark Draws Attention

As public debate grows within the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party over the relationship between the government and the party leadership, a brief social media remark by lawmaker Raju Pandey has drawn attention in political circles.

The internal debate became more visible after Prime Minister Balendra Shah posted a message on social media on Saturday night suggesting that there are times when one has to fight alone.

Following the Prime Minister’s remarks, RSP lawmaker Manish Jha and other party leaders responded through social media, stressing that no one was alone and that the party and elected representatives remained committed to helping the government succeed.

Party Chair Rabi Lamichhane and other senior leaders have also publicly raised questions in recent days about the government’s performance, saying that the party would not hesitate to caution the government when necessary. Their statements have pointed to differences over the government’s working style, political coordination and the extent of the party’s role in guiding the administration.

Against this background, Pandey wrote on Facebook, “I was born with nothing, and I will leave this world with nothing.”

Pandey has not provided any further explanation of the political meaning of the remark or clarified whether it was directed at any particular individual or issue. There is therefore no clear basis at this stage to conclude that his statement was directly linked to the emerging differences between Prime Minister Shah and the party leadership.

Nevertheless, the timing of the comment has naturally attracted political attention, coming amid a series of public statements in which government and ruling party figures have expressed differing views.

In recent days, RSP lawmakers have raised questions in Parliament about the government’s working style, public service delivery and issues affecting everyday life. The party leadership has also maintained that the government must remain accountable to the political commitments and electoral mandate on which it came to power.

Prime Minister Shah, meanwhile, has continued to suggest through social media that the reality of the situation may differ from public perceptions and that meaningful results require time.

With the Prime Minister, party leadership and lawmakers increasingly expressing their positions in public, internal debate within the RSP is no longer confined to closed meetings and is becoming part of the broader political discourse.
