Shram Sanskriti Party Chairman and lawmaker Harka Sampang has raised four questions concerning recent statements and activities associated with Durga Prasai, the supreme leader of the Jai Nepal Party.
In a social media post, Sampang questioned why Prasai appeared to be repeatedly seeking unrest and discord. He also asked why Prasai had made remarks suggesting that Nepal should be handed over to India if the country could not be governed properly.
Sampang further questioned the circumstances surrounding Prasai’s arrest and subsequent release, asking why he would be taken into custody in the morning and released by the evening.
His fourth question concerned Prasai’s position on loan repayment, asking why he had promoted the idea that borrowers should not repay their debts.
Sampang wrote on social media: “What is the reason Durga Prasai ji keeps seeking unrest and discord? Why does he say that if Nepal cannot be governed, it should be handed over to India? Why is he arrested in the morning and released by the evening? And why does he say that loans should not be repaid?”
Prasai had previously been taken into police custody shortly after announcing a protest programme. Police had cited concerns that his activities could disturb public order.
Sampang’s latest remarks have brought Prasai’s political activities, public statements, position on debt repayment, and the circumstances surrounding his arrest and release back into public discussion.
