Jumla Transport Office Collects Rs 19.44 Million in Revenue, Up by Around Rs 5 Million

The Transport Management Service Office in Jumla collected more than Rs 19.44 million in revenue during fiscal year 2082/83.

According to the office, revenue collection increased by around Rs 5 million compared with fiscal year 2081/82, when the office had collected more than Rs 14.32 million.

Office Chief Rajendra Karki said the increase was driven by growth in the number of vehicles and driving licence applicants, along with improvements in the speed and efficiency of service delivery.

During the fiscal year, the office collected around Rs 1.88 million from temporary and route permits, about Rs 6.49 million from driving licence and vehicle registration book fees, and around Rs 668,000 in advance income tax.

It also recovered Rs 1,575 in outstanding dues and collected approximately Rs 10.39 million in vehicle taxes.

The office provides services including new vehicle registration, renewal, driving licence distribution, transfer of vehicle ownership, and temporary and route permits.

During the same period, it issued 188 driving licences under Category ‘A’ for motorcycles, scooters and mopeds, and 38 licences under Category ‘B’ for cars, jeeps and delivery vans.

A further 394 licences were issued through duplicate issuance and renewal procedures, bringing the total number of licences distributed during the period to 620.

The office said improvements in service delivery, expansion of vehicle- and licence-related services, and efforts to bring more vehicle owners and transport operators into the tax system contributed to the increase in revenue.
