Australian Ambassador Pays Courtesy Call on Speaker Aryal

Australia’s Ambassador to Nepal, Simon Ernst, paid a courtesy call on Speaker of the House of Representatives Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal.
During the meeting held at the Speaker’s office at the Federal Parliament, the two sides discussed Nepal–Australia relations, parliamentary cooperation, people-to-people ties and various issues of mutual interest.
Speaker Aryal informed the ambassador that the Federal Parliament has formed a Nepal–Australia Parliamentary Friendship Group and stressed the need to activate the mechanism effectively to promote regular exchanges and stronger institutional engagement between lawmakers of the two countries.
He said the parliamentary friendship group could play an important role in expanding cooperation in areas of shared interest and strengthening mutual understanding.
Aryal also appreciated Australia’s long-standing contribution to Nepal’s socio-economic development and expressed gratitude for its support in human resource development, particularly through Australia Awards scholarships, capacity-building initiatives and training opportunities.
Highlighting people-to-people relations as an important foundation of bilateral ties, Aryal noted that Australia remains one of the major destinations for Nepali students pursuing higher education. He said Nepali students and the wider Nepali community living in Australia have played an important role in further strengthening relations between the two countries.
The Speaker also conveyed his greetings and best wishes to Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives Milton Dick through Ambassador Ernst.
Ambassador Ernst said parliamentary cooperation and strong people-to-people ties would continue to play an important role in further strengthening Nepal–Australia relations.
He expressed his commitment to supporting the continued expansion of bilateral cooperation in areas including education, human resource development and parliamentary engagement.
