India to Provide Rs 803 Million for Education, Health and Agriculture Projects in Nepal

The Government of India is set to provide financial assistance worth Rs 803 million for the development of Nepal’s education, health and agriculture sectors.

Agreements related to the implementation of the projects were signed on Tuesday by representatives of the relevant agencies of the Government of Nepal and officials from the Embassy of India in Kathmandu.

Under the agreements, the assistance will be used for the construction and upgrading of priority education, health and agriculture infrastructure in different provinces.

In Koshi Province, the digital systems of the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan will be upgraded. An agricultural produce collection and sales centre will also be constructed in Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality of Bhojpur.

The agreements further include the construction of a new building for Belbari Multiple Campus in Morang and a 15-bed hospital building in Barju Rural Municipality of Sunsari.

In Bagmati Province, a cash crop and livestock centre will be constructed in Jwalamukhi Rural Municipality of Dhading.

In Karnali Province, a 10-bed hospital will be built in Dungeshwar Rural Municipality of Dailekh, while an agriculture promotion centre will be constructed in Sarkegad Rural Municipality of Humla.

Similarly, a cold storage facility will be constructed in Kaligandaki Rural Municipality of Syangja in Gandaki Province.

The projects will be implemented through the respective local governments and concerned institutions. The initiatives, focused on education, health and agriculture, are expected to contribute to improved local services, better marketing of agricultural products and strengthened basic infrastructure.
