One Arrested in Surkhet with 74 Kilograms of Banned Wild Red Mushrooms

The District Police Office, Surkhet, has arrested a woman after recovering five sacks of banned wild red mushrooms weighing a total of 74 kilograms.
The arrested woman has been identified as Chandrakali Budha, a permanent resident of Sinja Rural Municipality–5 in Jumla who is currently living in Surkhet. Police said she was arrested on Wednesday.
The mushrooms were discovered during a security check of a bus travelling from Surkhet to Nepalgunj at the Subbakuna checkpoint.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Kabindra Singh Bohora of the District Police Office, Surkhet, the five sacks of mushrooms had been concealed in the luggage compartment of the bus.
Police said the seized mushrooms weighed 74 kilograms in total.
Further investigation is underway into Budha’s alleged involvement, as well as the transportation of the mushrooms and the possible involvement of other individuals, police said.
