Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shashank Koirala has said that unifying the party is his responsibility and that a united Nepali Congress would be difficult to defeat.

Addressing a national gathering organized by the party’s dissident faction on Friday, Koirala said the main objective of the gathering was to end internal divisions and bring the party together.

“If the Nepali Congress remains united, no one can defeat it,” Koirala said. “That is the main objective.”

He emphasized that the party’s strength depends on internal unity, cooperation and mutual trust, and said existing differences should be resolved through dialogue.

Koirala also recalled that his father and Nepali Congress founder BP Koirala had once referred to Sher Bahadur Deuba as the “Prince of the West.”

He said Deuba’s participation had added significance to the gathering and remarked that the event had become successful with his presence.

The three-day gathering is discussing the party’s internal situation, organizational unity, leadership dispute and future political direction.
