Dragon Media Correspondent

The government has formed a four-member team to hold talks with pro-monarchy campaigner Durga Prasai.

The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers formed the team on Monday under the coordination of Joint Secretary Liladhar Subedi.

The move comes after the Nation, Nationality, Religion, Culture and Citizens’ Protection Campaign led by Prasai announced protests while putting forward a range of demands.

Prasai had also submitted his demands to the National Human Rights Commission on Shrawan 29. The government said the talks team was formed to discuss those issues and explore a possible resolution through dialogue.

The team also includes Joint Secretary Gyanendra Kafle from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Joint Secretary Mahesh Acharya from the Ministry of Finance, and Joint Secretary Dilaram Panthi from the Ministry of Land Management and Cooperatives.

With the formation of the talks team, a formal channel of dialogue has opened between the government and Prasai’s campaign over its demands and announced protest programmes.
