Drone Debris Kills Three Teenagers in Krasnodar, Slutsky Blames Kyiv

Three teenagers were killed and eight people, including children, were injured after debris from a Ukrainian drone fell on a private children’s facility in Russia’s southern Krasnodar Region, according to Russian authorities.
Russia’s Children’s Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova said the victims were aged 13, 15 and 16. Six other children were hospitalized. Krasnodar Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said two adults were also injured.
According to Russian officials, the incident occurred during a large-scale drone attack overnight on August 24, when debris from a drone intercepted by air defenses fell on a private children’s facility in Krasnodar. A five-storey residential building was also reported damaged.
Leonid Slutsky, chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Russian State Duma and leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, strongly condemned the incident, describing it as “PR built on blood.”
Slutsky accused Kyiv of carrying out such attacks to demonstrate supposed military achievements to its European supporters amid difficulties on the battlefield. He also claimed that European countries continue to overlook Ukrainian actions while using Ukraine as a platform for what he described as a proxy war against Russia.
Although Slutsky characterized the incident as a war crime and an act of terrorism, no independent investigation has yet established such a conclusion.
Ukraine had not issued an immediate formal response to the incident. Available information has not established whether the children’s facility itself was deliberately targeted or whether debris from a drone aimed at another target fell on the site.
Russian authorities also reported that Ukrainian drones targeted other logistical and economic facilities that night. A logistics center operated by Russian e-commerce company Ozon in the Enem area near Krasnodar was among the sites reportedly affected.
Both Russia and Ukraine have repeatedly denied deliberately targeting civilians. However, as the war continues, civilian casualties and damage caused by long-range drone and missile strikes on both sides have become an increasingly serious security concern.v
