Two ZNPP Employees Injured in Drone Attack

Two employees of the Russian-controlled Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant were injured in a drone attack on August 25, according to the plant administration. The facility has alleged that the attack was carried out by the Ukrainian side.
The strike reportedly occurred near the plant’s hydraulic structures while employees from the repair and construction unit were carrying out their duties.
According to the plant administration, one of the injured employees is in serious condition, while the other sustained moderate injuries. Both were evacuated to a medical facility and are receiving treatment under medical supervision.
The plant administration said the attack targeted personnel responsible for maintaining the operation of the nuclear facility and warned that such incidents pose risks not only to employees but also to the broader safety of the plant.
Responsibility for the attack has not been independently verified, and the attribution to Ukraine currently remains a claim made by the ZNPP administration and the Russian side.
Despite the tense security situation, plant personnel continue to perform their duties and monitor nuclear safety parameters, according to the facility.
The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant is the largest nuclear power facility in Europe. Since the beginning of the war, military activity in and around the plant has remained a major international concern because of the potential consequences for nuclear safety.
