Severely Injured Victims of Amur Gas Chemical Complex Fire to Be Airlifted to Moscow

A special aircraft operated by Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry has arrived in Blagoveshchensk to transport the most seriously injured victims of a fire at the Amur Gas Chemical Complex to Moscow for further treatment.

According to the ministry, the aircraft will evacuate patients in the most serious condition from Blagoveshchensk to the Russian capital. A medical team and specialized equipment have been deployed for the transfer.

The fire broke out on August 25 at the construction site of the Amur Gas Chemical Complex. Preliminary information indicated that the incident occurred in an auxiliary technical area connected with a pyrolysis unit.

Emergency services brought the fire under control, after which remaining process gases were reportedly burned off in a controlled manner. Initial assessments indicated that the complex’s main equipment did not sustain major damage.

Workers and contractor personnel who suffered injuries of varying severity were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Those requiring more advanced specialist care are now being transferred to Moscow.

Russian authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. Air quality around the complex is also being monitored.
