Eight Russian Citizens Still Unaccounted for in Nepal Flood Zone, Another Group Heading to Kathmandu

No new information has been received regarding eight Russian citizens who were in Nepal’s disaster-affected area and have remained out of contact following the devastating floods, the Russian Embassy in Nepal has said.

According to the embassy, inquiries have been made with Nepali authorities regarding the eight Russian nationals, but no additional information about their condition or whereabouts has been received so far.

Meanwhile, another group of eight Russian citizens who had earlier moved from Dhunche, the administrative centre of Rasuwa district, to a settlement located away from the rivers has decided to evacuate independently using private vehicles. They left for Kathmandu on Friday morning and are expected to arrive in the capital soon.

The embassy has also highlighted the risk of infectious diseases in flood-affected areas due to contaminated water. Citing Nepali experts, it said the risk applies not only to settlements directly affected by the flooding but also to nearby communities that rely on the same water sources.

People in those areas have been advised to boil drinking water before use and to avoid consuming any food that may have come into contact with floodwater.
