Russia Introduces Unified Assessment Criteria for Core School Subjects

Russia’s Ministry of Education has developed unified criteria for assessing students’ knowledge in core school subjects and has sent the guidelines to regional authorities across the country.

Education Minister Sergey Kravtsov told the Russian news agency TASS that the new criteria are intended to make school grading more objective, consistent and transparent.

According to Kravtsov, the unified approach is designed to reduce differences in how students with similar levels of knowledge are assessed in different schools and regions.

The common criteria are also expected to provide teachers with clearer guidance when assigning marks, while helping students and parents better understand how academic performance is evaluated.

The ministry has already distributed the assessment framework to the regions as part of efforts to improve consistency and objectivity in Russia’s school education system.
