Tibetan Clothing Tailoring Training Opens in Xiaman Town, Zoige, with More Than 60 Participants

A vocational training program on traditional Tibetan clothing tailoring has officially opened in Xiaman Town, Zoige County, China, with more than 60 local residents registering to participate. The program is designed to provide practical skills and expand employment and entrepreneurship opportunities within local communities.
Organized by the employment authorities of Zoige County, the training program is supported by 150,000 yuan in designated assistance funding from Yibin Vocational and Technical College. The 12-day course is being provided free of charge and focuses primarily on tailoring techniques for Tibetan clothing with distinctive local characteristics.
Priority has been given to members of relocated households, graduates of secondary vocational education programs and people from households that have emerged from poverty. Local skilled professionals have been invited to conduct the training.
The program combines theoretical instruction with hands-on practice. Participants are receiving systematic instruction in the principles of traditional Tibetan clothing design, fabric selection, traditional sewing techniques and modern tailoring methods.
Organizers said the main objective is to equip participants with practical vocational skills that can be directly applied in the workplace, while laying a stronger foundation for future employment or the establishment of their own businesses.
During the training, staff from the local employment service center are also providing participants with information about government support policies, including employment and entrepreneurship subsidies and loan programs. Those interested in starting businesses after completing the course will be assisted in accessing available financial and policy support.
By linking traditional Tibetan clothing craftsmanship with modern vocational training, the program is expected to contribute to the preservation of local cultural skills while creating new opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship and income generation within the community.
