BRICS Represents 50 Percent of Humanity and 40 Percent of Global GDP: Modi

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has highlighted the growing global significance of BRICS, saying the grouping represents around 50 percent of humanity and about 40 percent of global GDP.

Addressing the BRICS Business Forum, Modi presented India’s industrial and innovation approach through the message: “Make in India, Innovate with India, Scale for the World.”

He called for the next decade of BRICS cooperation to be defined by action and measurable results rather than declarations alone.

Modi proposed removing the top 10 barriers to trade among BRICS economies, helping 100 BRICS startups expand across member-country markets every year, and creating 1,000 new business partnerships.

Reducing trade barriers could facilitate stronger flows of goods, services, investment and technology across the grouping, while greater support for startups could help transform BRICS into a more integrated network for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Modi also emphasised the importance of direct cooperation among businesses, entrepreneurs and investors, indicating that government-level agreements should be complemented by practical private-sector partnerships.

“Let BRICS grow. Let BRICS help the world grow,” Modi said, linking the expansion of the grouping with broader and more inclusive global economic growth.

His proposals underline India’s effort to position BRICS not only as a political and diplomatic platform, but also as a practical framework for trade, innovation, entrepreneurship and private-sector cooperation.
