Xi Jinping Returns to Beijing After Attending 18th BRICS Summit

Chinese President Xi Jinping returned to Beijing on Sunday evening after attending the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi.

Xi’s entourage, including Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, and Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese foreign minister, returned on the same flight.

Xi had travelled to New Delhi to attend the BRICS Summit, where leaders discussed expanding cooperation among member countries, strengthening the role of the Global South, advancing multilateralism and promoting reform of global governance.

During the summit, Xi also held exchanges with leaders of BRICS members and partner countries on bilateral and multilateral issues.

The 18th BRICS Summit focused on deepening economic, political and development cooperation, enhancing the representation of developing countries and strengthening the role of emerging economies in international affairs.
