Prosecution Seeks Harsher Sentence for Blogger Lerchek

Russian prosecutors are seeking a tougher sentence for blogger Valeria Chekalina, widely known as Lerchek, according to TASS, citing a participant in the court proceedings.

Chekalina had previously been given a suspended sentence, fined and banned for a certain period from administering websites.

The case was linked to her fitness-marathon business and allegations of illegal transfers of large sums of money abroad. A court had found her guilty and imposed the sentence.

Prosecutors are now arguing that the punishment was too lenient and are seeking a harsher penalty. Further legal proceedings in the case are continuing.
