Seven Staff Injured in Gas Cylinder Explosion at Sri Lankan Kidney Hospital

Seven staff members were injured when a gas cylinder exploded in the kitchen of a kidney hospital in Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka, early Saturday morning. Police said the explosion occurred at around 4 a.m.

The injured were admitted to a hospital in Polonnaruwa. Three are in serious condition, according to hospital sources. The explosion also damaged the hospital building.

No patients or other healthcare workers were injured. Staff evacuated patients from the building after the explosion. Those requiring further treatment were transferred to Polonnaruwa General Hospital.
