Russia Sends More Than 530 Tonnes of Sunflower Oil to Myanmar

Russia has sent more than 530 tonnes of sunflower oil fortified with vitamins A and D to Myanmar through the United Nations World Food Programme, according to the Russian Embassy in Myanmar. The humanitarian shipment has arrived in Yangon, the embassy said.

Embassy staff visited World Food Programme warehouses in Yangon and discussed the timetable and routes for distributing the aid. Details of when deliveries will begin, which areas will receive the oil and how many people will benefit have not been released.

Russia said it was ready to continue supporting Myanmar both directly and through UN agencies. The embassy’s account confirms the shipment’s arrival in Yangon but does not say that distribution to intended recipients has been completed.
