Home Minister Discusses Religious Harmony and Hindu Heritage, Archana Sharma Says

Archana Sharma, who is associated with the World Hindu Federation, says she attended a meeting at the Home Ministry at the invitation of Home Minister Sudhan Gurung to discuss religious harmony and the preservation of Hindu traditions.

In a Facebook post, Sharma said religious leaders, organisations and social campaigners discussed how people could exercise their freedom of religion while respecting other faiths. The discussion also covered practices within religious communities that need reform and ways to teach younger generations about Hinduism, she said.

Sharma wrote that she found the home minister attentive to these issues. The ministry has not released a full list of participants or any formal decisions from the meeting.

Referring to Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s address to the 81st United Nations General Assembly, Sharma said his references to Pashupatinath and the teachings of Buddha had presented Nepal’s religious significance to the world. She expressed gratitude to the prime minister and home minister on behalf of the World Hindu Federation.
