The Nepal–China Mutual Cooperation Society has sent separate congratulatory messages addressed to President Xi Jinping and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming through the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. In the messages sent on September 30, the Society extended its congratulations to the Chinese people and leadership ahead of China’s National Day on October 1.
The messages also marked the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Long March. The Society’s president paid tribute to those who contributed to those historic journeys and commended China’s progress in national development, poverty alleviation, infrastructure, science and technology.
The messages described Nepal–China relations as founded on sovereign equality, mutual respect and sensitivity to each other’s core interests. The president said the Society respected Nepal’s commitment to the one-China principle and remained committed to expanding people-to-people understanding and practical cooperation in education, culture, connectivity and sustainable development. He also expressed hope that the Taiwan question would be resolved peacefully.
The president conveyed special gratitude for the relief and expert assistance provided by the Chinese government and people during the devastating disaster Nepal recently faced. Describing that support in a difficult time as a humane expression of friendship between the two countries, he wished President Xi good health and the Chinese people peace, prosperity and continued progress.
