A new survey points to growing public dissatisfaction in the United States over inflation and the cost of daily life. According to a poll conducted by the Associated Press and NORC, only 17 percent of Americans approve of President Donald Trump’s handling of living costs. His overall approval on economic management stands at 26 percent.

About 65 percent of respondents said Trump administration policies have contributed to persistently high prices. They cited higher tariffs and the economic effects of the ongoing war with Iran among the factors. Concerns about affording essentials such as groceries and fuel have also been reported among Republican voters.

The poll surveyed 2,140 adults from September 24 to 28, with a margin of error of 2.9 percentage points. Its findings reflect respondents’ views about the causes of high prices, rather than establishing those causes as an economic conclusion.
