Security Situation in CSTO Area Deteriorating, Secretary General Says

Taalatbek Masadykov, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), said the military and political situation in the organization’s area of responsibility was deteriorating. He said zones of instability were expanding and the potential for conflict was rising in border regions.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces drills, Masadykov expressed concern over regional security challenges. “The military-political situation in the CSTO area of responsibility is increasingly deteriorating, zones of instability are expanding, and conflict potential is rising in border regions,” he said.
