FPV drone crews operating in a swarm formation targeted assault groups advancing on motorcycles during the main stage of the Center-2026 military drills, Russia’s Defense Ministry said. The exercise was held at the Chebarkul training ground.
According to the ministry, assault groups advanced simultaneously from the flanks and seized their objectives, while fire was delivered from the front. Artillery supported the advancing groups, and FPV drones carried out concentrated strikes on the enemy’s exposed firing positions.
The ministry also said mobile fire groups using Ulan-2 vehicles engaged enemy unmanned aerial vehicles while the assault groups and drone crews were carrying out their attack.
More than 6,000 troops are taking part in the drills at the Chebarkul training ground, including 4,600 Russian personnel and 1,479 foreign troops. Of the foreign personnel, 634 are from member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization’s Collective Rapid Reaction Forces.
The exercises involve more than 600 pieces of equipment, including 55 aircraft and helicopters, more than 500 drones of various types, and over 50 robotic systems.
