China Tops Asian Games Medal Table; Nepal Finishes with Two Bronze Medals

The 20th Asian Games concluded on Sunday after 16 days of competition in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. At the closing ceremony, Japan handed the Olympic Council of Asia flag and the Games torch to Qatar, host of the next edition in Doha in 2030.
More than 17,000 athletes, coaches and officials took part. Over 10,000 athletes from 45 Asian nations, alongside a Refugee Team, competed across 43 sports for 469 gold medals.
China finished atop the medal table with 341 medals: 169 gold, 89 silver and 83 bronze. Host Japan placed second with 269 medals, including 83 gold, 95 silver and 91 bronze. South Korea came third with 150 medals—39 gold, 43 silver and 68 bronze. India finished fourth with 85 medals, including 21 gold.
Nepal won two bronze medals: one for the women’s kabaddi team and another for karateka Tenzing Sherpa. The Nepali team fell short of its target of winning gold and reaching double figures in the overall medal count.
