Russian company DOFA-Tek says it has developed the DF-1 Roscherk, a disposable, jet-powered interceptor drone. According to the company, the system has a top speed of 500 km/h and a range of about 250 km. It was presented on Oct. 7 on the sidelines of the All-Russian Drone Congress in St. Petersburg.
Company CEO Marat Drofa said the interceptor can destroy unmanned aerial vehicles either by colliding with them or by using an onboard warhead. He said it can remain airborne for up to 50 minutes. Technical Director Vitaly Dobrovolsky said it can be launched from a rooftop or from the ground.
DOFA-Tek says the interceptor’s all-metal structure could help the company scale up production quickly. Company officials said they could move to large-scale manufacturing in a relatively short time. The material provided did not include independent testing of the system’s performance, production capacity or operational use.
The All-Russian Drone Congress is being held in St. Petersburg from Oct. 7 to 9. It is organized by RuDrones, a center of excellence in unmanned technologies.
