Durga Prasai has received a registration certificate from the Election Commission for his Nepal Path Party. The party was previously registered as the Nagarik Bachau Dal and has been renamed Nepal Path Party.

The party is expected to be formally launched on Mangsir 7. Prasai had earlier planned to register a party jointly with Dr. Dhawal Shumsher Rana, who left the Rastriya Prajatantra Party. The two parted ways after disagreements, and Rana has registered a separate party called the Jai Nepal Party.
