Rubio Warns Ukraine Conflict Could Escalate into a Regional War

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has warned that the war in Ukraine could develop into a broader and more dangerous regional conflict. He said the war was currently at a stalemate and that such a situation was risky.

According to Rubio, a stalemate can end in one of two ways: the sides can make concessions and reach a negotiated peace agreement, or the fighting can escalate. If the conflict intensifies, he said, a war between two countries could expand into a regional conflict.

Rubio also said Washington would continue efforts to seek a negotiated settlement.
