An international downhill mountain biking competition has been held in Zoom Village, Soreng District, Sikkim, India. Organised by Zabarvan Extreme in collaboration with Zoom Gram Panchayat Unit at Zoom Rock Garden, the competition brought together riders from eight countries, including three from Sikkim.

Located in a remote area, Zoom Village is blessed with natural scenery, forest trails and challenging terrain. These features give the village potential to become a destination for mountain biking, adventure sports and tourism. The organisers believe that using these natural assets responsibly could contribute to the village’s sustainable development.
The participation of international riders has highlighted the growing appeal of mountain biking and Sikkim’s potential for adventure sports tourism. Events like this provide riders with a platform to demonstrate their skills and endurance, while helping place Sikkim on the international sporting map, the organisers said.
The competition is also expected to create opportunities in tourism and employment for local communities. It has shown how remote villages can gain international recognition by building on their natural assets.
The organisers thanked the participating athletes and everyone who contributed to making the event a success. They particularly commended the local riders who represented Sikkim on the international platform. They expressed hope that such initiatives would inspire more young people to take up adventure sports and help establish Sikkim as a leading destination for mountain biking and adventure tourism.
