Yemen’s Houthi rebel movement, Ansar Allah, has claimed responsibility for attacks on oil facilities and airports in Saudi Arabia. Spokesperson Yahya Saria said four large-scale operations were carried out over the past 24 hours using missiles and drones.

Saria said the attacks targeted Saudi Aramco’s gas processing facility in Shedgum and an oil facility in Tanajib, both in eastern Saudi Arabia. He said fires broke out at the sites after the strikes.

The Houthi spokesperson also claimed that King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam were targeted. He said air traffic at both airports had been suspended and Riyadh airport had been completely closed.

Saria further said six ballistic missiles were fired at areas where Saudi troops were deployed in Ras al-Ara and al-Suqya, killing or injuring dozens of people. He said the attacks were carried out in response to 124 airstrikes launched by the Saudi-led coalition against Yemen over the previous day.

Saudi-led coalition spokesperson Turki al-Maliki had earlier said that an unidentified projectile struck the passenger terminal at Riyadh airport, causing a fire. According to Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Oct. 10 attack left 12 people dead and 309 injured.

On Sunday, the Houthis again urged international airlines and passengers not to use Saudi airports, declaring them targets for further attacks.
