Trump Claims Russia and Ukraine Agreed to Halt Attacks on Energy Facilities; Kyiv Seeks Details

U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to stop attacks on energy facilities. In a post on his Truth Social platform Sunday, he said the agreement took effect immediately and warned both sides not to violate it.
“Effective immediately, there is an energy ceasefire in the war between Russia and Ukraine. Both parties have agreed. Do not break it,” Trump wrote. He did not explain how the agreement was reached, which facilities it covers or who would monitor its implementation.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy welcomed Trump’s announcement but said he had not been informed about the agreement in advance and was waiting for details. He said Ukraine would stop targeting Russian energy facilities if Russia halted its attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
Zelenskyy said Russian drone and guided-bomb attacks continued in several parts of Ukraine after Trump’s announcement. Ukrainian officials also reported continued strikes on energy facilities, raising questions about whether the ceasefire had taken effect.
Moscow had not issued an immediate official response to Trump’s announcement. Until the two sides confirm the agreement and clarify its terms, it remains unclear whether attacks on energy facilities have stopped.
