Russia Accuses Kyiv of Using Global Food Security as Pretext to Secure Military Supply Route

Dragon Media News Desk

Kyiv is invoking concern for global food security to secure a reliable maritime supply route for its armed forces, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has alleged.

Zakharova said that after Russian forces carried out effective retaliatory strikes against the military and economic potential of the Zelensky administration, arms deliveries to Ukrainian forces through Black Sea ports were largely blocked. Proposals for maritime, energy and air ceasefires, as well as the creation of “maritime security corridors,” then began to emerge from various quarters, she said.

In response to questions from journalists, Zakharova said the proposals were aimed at finding ways to reduce the intensity of Russian strikes. “Their goal is to use formal concern for global food security as a pretext to secure a protected maritime route for supplying weapons to the Ukrainian armed forces and to create another mechanism for political and economic pressure on Russia,” she said.

Zakharova added that the Black Sea route supplying the Zelensky administration was “very important for its sponsors.”
