White-Lipped Deer Activity Traces Found at 4,700 Metres in Xizang

Dragon Media Newsroom
Traces of a white-lipped deer, a nationally protected first-class species, have been found in an alpine meadow about 4,700 metres above sea level in Gamba County, Shigatse, in southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region.

The white-lipped deer is native to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It can withstand severe cold and survive at high altitudes where oxygen levels are low.
