FBI Accuses North Korea of Binance Hack, Says Losses Could Reach $6.3 Billion

Dragon Media News Desk

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation has accused North Korea of carrying out a major cyberattack on cryptocurrency exchange Binance that may have caused losses of up to $6.3 billion, according to a statement cited by TASS.

The FBI said more than $6 billion in virtual assets were stolen from Binance on or around October 29, 2026. Its statement did not provide evidence for the accusation. US authorities believe the attack was carried out by TraderTraitor, a hacking group linked to North Korea.

The bureau said the hackers were expected to convert most of the stolen assets into Ethereum, then use decentralized finance platforms and instant-swap services to move and launder the funds.

Binance said it would use half of its Secure Asset Fund for Users to help cover losses from the attack. The exchange had earlier said it had reimbursed 90 percent of the stolen amount.
