Poland Deploys Additional Police Along Kaliningrad Border

Dragon Media News Desk

Poland has sent additional police officers to the border area adjoining Russia’s westernmost region of Kaliningrad to prevent possible acts of sabotage.

Police Chief Marek Boroń told RMF FM radio that security measures were being reinforced against potential incidents that could lead to sabotage. He said officers from police departments in several provinces had been sent to the border area. Polish media have reported that a special security operation was launched there following warnings of possible sabotage.

The Russian Embassy in Warsaw, meanwhile, has expressed concern over what it described as increasingly jingoistic rhetoric in Polish media, particularly reports about possible acts of sabotage.

Polish officials say security agencies have warned of a potential threat. No act of sabotage at the border has been confirmed.
