Last Year’s Bhadau: The Second Installment!

Bharat Dahal,
Patriotic Thinker and Political Analyst
The arrest of Inam Sapkota is entirely orchestrated. He was deliberately put in touch with people from all sides so they could be trapped through what he revealed. The fact that his mobile phone had already reached Kumar Ben’s hands as part of a plan to conceal his own connections and implicate others has made this clear.
Inam’s arrest is an unusual incident. It is the second installment of last year’s Bhadau strategy. The main strategy last year was to eliminate the political parties. The main strategy now is to purge Ravi Lamichhane, along with senior officials in the courts, police and civil service who are seen as obstacles to the plans ahead.
I said last year that Ravi Lamichhane was broken out of jail so he could be used as a stepping stone to bring someone else to power. That has happened. Ravi and his party have now become a burden. The conflict between the government and the party makes this clear. The question is how to bring the party under the government’s control.
The Dan Bahadur episode has made it clear that it will be difficult for the government to carry out its planned agenda until it takes control of the party. That is why one of the main plans now linked to Inam’s arrest is to remove Ravi from the party. Ravi has reached the same position the political parties were in last year.
Ravi has kept his party under his control up to now. How he responds to disputes with the government, including the Dan Bahadur affair, is up to him. But judging by the underlying aim of the Inam case, he has already been pushed into the final phase of his political career. He has no path left except a decisive showdown or surrender.
