Man Arrested for Inciting Arson at Singha Durbar

Kathmandu — A man has been arrested for allegedly setting fire at Singha Durbar and inciting others to commit arson during a Gen-Z protest.
The arrested individual has been identified as 36-year-old Mahendra Gautam. He is originally from Khairahani Municipality–9 in Chitwan and currently resides in Anamnagar, Kathmandu Metropolitan City–29.
According to SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, Information Officer at the Kathmandu District Police Office, Gautam is accused of provoking the crowd during the protest, inciting arson, and engaging in criminal disturbance activities. Police are continuing their investigation and collecting additional evidence related to the case.
After his arrest, Gautam was presented before the Kathmandu District Court, where a five-day extension for investigation under charges of criminal disturbance was granted. Authorities stated that they are taking legal action and exercising special caution to prevent violent activities during protests.
