Chinese President Xi Urges Chinese Youths to Add Personal Aspirations to the Big Picture of National Development

Chinese President Xi Jinping has encouraged youths to integrate their personal aspirations into the bigger picture of national development.
Xi, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks in a letter sent to representatives of the winners of the China Youth May Fourth Medal and New Era Youth Pioneer on the eve of China Youth Day on Monday. He has also extended best wishes to the youths across the country on the occasion of the festival.
In his letter, Xi praised these exemplary young people who are working in grassroots positions such as science and technology innovation, rural revitalization, social services and border security. “They symbolize the confident, self-reliant and enthusiastic outlook of the Chinese youth in the new era,” Xi said.
Noting that 2026 is the first year of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), Xi said the present is an excellent opportunity for the youth to contribute to the country’s development. President Xi called on the youth of China to remain steadfast in their positions, strive to achieve new achievements and push ahead the new journey of national development.
The China Youth May Fourth Medal and the New Era Youth Pioneer were created to honor outstanding youth ideals who have made political progress, high moral character and significant contributions to society. More recently, 16 awardees since 2012 wrote a letter to the President, highlighting their work and insights from serving at the grassroots level, reiterating their resolve to contribute to national development.
