Trump’s “Unacceptable”-Iran’s Conditions: Resolve the Nuclear Issue Later, First Lift the Blockade

AGENCY. U.S. President Donald Trump has rejected a new Iranian proposal for peace talks, calling it “unacceptable.” In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump commented that Iran “has not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to Humanity, and the World, over the last 47 years” .
According to the Fars news agency, the 14-point proposal submitted by Tehran via Pakistani mediators does not include a 15-year halt to uranium enrichment by Iran. It also does not propose opening the Strait of Hormuz until a final settlement agreement is reached between the two parties. These 14 points were presented in response to a nine-point U.S. initiative .
The plan calls for a 30-day timeline to resolve key issues, focusing first on “ending the war,” including lifting the U.S. naval blockade and a full withdrawal of forces, before moving to separate negotiations on its nuclear program .
In response, Trump announced that the U.S. would launch “Project Freedom” to escort third-country commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz, starting Monday morning . He characterized the operation as a “humanitarian gesture” to help stranded ships that were running out of supplies . Trump warned that any interference with this operation would be met with a strong response.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, stated that the Iranian proposal focuses on ending the war and does not include nuclear-related issues. “At this stage, we are not conducting nuclear negotiations,” he confirmed . He said the U.S. response had been received and was under review. The ongoing stalemate in the Strait of Hormuz continues to seriously disrupt global energy supplies .
