Striking Far and Accurate: The Power of Russia’s Msta-S Howitzer

Moscow. The Russian Defence Ministry has released detailed information about the combat capabilities of its advanced Msta-S self-propelled howitzer. Designed to engage artillery batteries, destroy defensive fortifications, suppress command posts, and neutralise manpower, firing positions, weapons, and military hardware, this weapon system is currently being successfully operated around the clock during the special military operation, the Ministry stated.

According to the Ministry, the key benefits of the Msta-S are as follows: the ability to fire without additional preparation; a “one gun artillery attack” capability, where several projectiles fired on different trajectories hit the target almost simultaneously; a flexible reload system that allows firing using both on-board ammunition from the stowage area in the turret and additional rounds from off-board; and improved software, with the howitzer equipped with all necessary modern electronic on-board systems to quickly and effectively solve navigation, communication, and firing missions.

The Russian side has claimed that this howitzer continues to effectively neutralise enemy manpower, firing positions, and military equipment.
