Zelensky’s Ceasefire Is “Nothing More Than a Tactical Ploy,” Says Russian Lawmaker

Moscow. Senior Russian lawmaker Leonid Slutsky has dismissed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s declaration of a silence regime from May 6 as nothing more than a “tactical ploy.”

Slutsky stated, “Zelensky first practically rejected Russia’s initiative for a ceasefire on Victory Day, but then decided to resort to a tactical ploy and declare a ‘silence regime’ from the night of May 5 to 6. The reason is banal – wounded pride.”

In the context of Russia having already declared a ceasefire for May 8 and 9, Slutsky claimed that Zelensky’s announcement of a silence regime from May 6 was a move driven solely by a competitive spirit.
