“Force Alone Cannot Win”: Russia Warns Against Stalled Peace Process Over Iran, Hormuz Crisis

Moscow — Russia has expressed serious dissatisfaction with the tense situation surrounding Iran and the Strait of Hormuz, concluding that the negotiation process has stalled.
In an official statement, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova voiced regret over the slowing efforts to resolve the Persian Gulf crisis. “We urge all Sides to exercise maximum restraint and self-control,” the statement read.
Russia cautioned that any potential strikes against Iran or neighbouring Arab states could damage civilian infrastructure and reignite violence. With regional tensions persisting, Moscow stressed the need to remain vigilant against possible provocations by certain forces seeking to derail peace efforts and prevent overall stabilisation, warning that any action could trigger a renewed large-scale armed confrontation.
Russia reiterated its consistent stance of resolving existing differences in this strategically important region solely through political and diplomatic means, taking into account the interests of all regional states. Spokeswoman Zakharova reaffirmed Russia’s readiness to provide necessary assistance toward this goal, including on the basis of the principles and practical steps outlined in its well-known Concept of Collective Security for the Persian Gulf.
